I took drawing lessons at the Dayton Art Institute, Dayton, Ohio. My first oil painting lessons were with Cyril Sloan at Essex, Vermont, adult education. My husband and I relocated many times. I took lessons from local teaching artists in each place and attended workshops. The most comprehensive studying was at the Wooster Art Center, Danbury, Connecticut. The most inspiring oil painter teacher was Al Shundi. The most inspiring watercolor teacher was the late Barbara Smail.
